Ds3 Reliability And Fractional Ds3

If you are interested in having a good internet connection, you might want to look into a DS3 Connection.  This is a high speed internet connection that is often useful for businesses and for individuals who need to communicate fast.  Additionally, you can find a cheap T3 cost online by finding a good T3 provider. DS 3 is a T-carrier signaling scheme devised by Bell Labs.  DS3 is a widely used standard in telecommunications in North America and Japan to transmit voice and data between devices.

Sometimes, E1 is used in place of DS3 outside of North America and Japan. DS3 is the transmission protocol used over a physical DS3 line; however, the terms "DS3" and "DS3" are often used interchangeably. A DS3 circuit is made up of twenty-four 8-bit channels, each channel being a 64 kbit/s DS0 multiplexed pseudo-circuit. A DS3 is also a full-duplex circuit, meaning, in theory, the circuit can send 1.544 Mbit/s and receive 1.544 Mbit/s concurrently. A total of 1.536 Mbit/s of bandwidth is achieved by sampling each of the twenty-four 8-bit DS0's 8000 times per second.

Keep in mind that this sampling is referred to as 8-kHz sampling.  Keep in mind that the majority of DS3 line users opt for the full DS3. The price break point vs. speed averages around 768 Mbits, half a DS3.   Also, it is helpful to know that fractional service typically comes in 256Kbps increments from 256Kbps all the way to a full DS3 at 1.5Mbps.

Also, if you are supporting critical services think reliability. Reliability becomes critical when customers or employees depend on your connection for immediate responses.

If your customers use your connection to access your databases or your server or the internet then reliability of your connection is critical. If your employees depend on your connections because you host the e-mail server in house or host web servers or ASP type products, your connections is considered critical.

It is also good to know that a critical connection can be viewed like a lifeline, without which your business would be negatively impacted. A fractional DS3 offers less bandwidth than a full DS3 and comes with the same quality and performance guarantees as a full 1.54 Mbps DS3 but costs slightly less. How much less bandwidth vs. the cost savings is the question.

Though the price reduction is not what you might expect it to be, this may put a DS3 in your budget and be a great way to get dedicated service into your building. Once you have fractional service upgrading to full service is easy. The reason it is easy is due to the install.

Also, a fractional T is a full DS3 capable circuit - it is throttled back to deliver only a portion.  It is interesting to know that in the late 1990's, the cost for a fractional DS3 might have been about 35% - 40% less than the full 1.54 Mbps DS3. Today, there is hardly any difference in price, maybe 10% to 15% at best. The cost of a Full DS3 has come down considerably in recent years.

A fractional DS3 has a 50% - 75% bandwidth decrease but only a 5% to 15% price decrease. Fractional DS-3 (T3) on the other hand is a very cost effective solution since pricing is based on a portion of a 45 Mbps circuit.
